Boba Tea 101: Everything You Need to Know
Boba tea — also known as bubble tea — originated in Taiwan in the 1980s and has since taken the world by storm. At The Creamery Stone & Boba, we've made it one of our core menu pillars because we believe it pairs beautifully with our handcrafted ice cream.
What Is Boba Tea?
At its core, boba tea is a flavored tea or milk tea topped with chewy tapioca pearls (the "boba"). The pearls are made from cassava starch and have a satisfying, gummy texture. They absorb the sweet flavors of whatever drink they're in, making each sip a two-texture experience.
Types of Boba at CSB
- Classic Tapioca Pearls — Black, chewy spheres cooked in brown sugar syrup. The original boba experience.
- Popping Boba — Juice-filled spheres that pop in your mouth. We carry strawberry, passion fruit, and mango.
- Jelly Boba — Coconut or lychee jelly cut into cubes. Lighter and slightly firmer than tapioca.
Popular Drinks
Our best-sellers include Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Taro Latte, Matcha Latte, and Passion Fruit Green Tea. Each can be customized for sweetness level (0%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and ice level.
Pro tip: Try our Brown Sugar Milk Tea with classic tapioca pearls alongside our Lavender Honey Cream ice cream. The combination is genuinely one of the best flavor experiences on our menu.
